Department of Jewish Studies - Statement

The faculty of the Department of Jewish Studies at San Francisco State University condemn the senseless killings of African Americans and the violence inflicted on those who protest those killings. We acknowledge the anguish felt by communities of color, including students, staff and faculty at SFSU and we commit to teaching and researching the histories of race and power and to listening to our colleagues and students of color. At this time, with a pandemic striking our most vulnerable communities, we should seek solidarity with and empathy for those who suffer. More than ever, the Department remains committed to the University's mission statement of social justice and obligated to the welfare and safety of students, staff, and faculty.
