Dr. Alexis Herr has dedicated her life to combating genocide and atrocity through education and advocacy. In addition to teaching at SF State, she has also taught at California State University, Berkeley, University of San Francisco, Keene State College, and Northeastern University, and worked for nonprofit organizations focused on Holocaust, genocide, and refugee education and advocacy including the Holocaust Center, a division of Jewish Family and Children’s Services, RefugePoint, and Jewish World Watch. She is the author of Compensated Compliance and the Holocaust in Italy: Fossoli di Carpi, 1942-1952 (New York: Palgrave MacMillan, 2016) and editor and author of Rwandan Genocide: Essential Reference Guide (San Diego: ABC-Clio, 2018) and Darfur Genocide: Essential Reference Guide (San Diego: ABC-Clio, forthcoming 2020). She received her doctorate in Holocaust and Genocide Studies from Clark University in 2014.
